Similar to other users, I installed an out-of-warranty genuine HP cartridge and received the following error "This cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not work in your printer..."
I am looking for a remedy. It appears users are contacted directly by HP to resolve. Is that the only course of action?

Thank you for your response. I have tried both steps and my printer will not work with the cartridge I have. It seems odd that I purchased and installed 2 of 3 cartridges and they work fine (all with warranty expiration dates in 2020) but the yellow one is not working. I realize that I've had this cartridge on the shelf for quite some time but I'm disappointed that the genuine cartridge will no longer work.

Hi @KDVOLK,
If the cartridge expiration date has expired and a particular ink cartridge is not working.
Then you will have to replace the cartridge which has an error with a new one.
