HP DeskJet 2823e All-in-One Printer

Hello,
I am having an issue with my HP printer: it won’t print when I send a document. In the HP Smart app, I see a message saying “cartridge or account issue.” I’m not sure what’s causing the error. I have checked that the cartridges are properly installed, but the problem persists.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @Elpepe, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "cartridge or account issue" message on your HP DeskJet 2823e likely indicates one of the following problems:

HP Instant Ink Subscription Issue

  • If you are enrolled in HP Instant Ink, ensure that your subscription is active.
  • Log in to your HP Instant Ink account and check if there are any billing or account-related issues.
  • If your Instant Ink cartridges are deactivated, you may need to replace them with standard HP cartridges.

Cartridge Recognition Issue

  • Remove both cartridges and clean the electrical contacts using a dry lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert them and make sure they click firmly into place.
  • Restart your printer and check if the message disappears.

Firmware and Software Update

  • Open HP Smart and check for any available printer firmware updates.
  • Also, ensure your HP Smart app and printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from HP website.

Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer while it's turned on.
  • Wait 60 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Restart your computer and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
