I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e that was originally set up in one country and has now permanently relocated to another region. All four installed cartridges are genuine HP (HP 936/936E) purchased locally in the new region, but the printer reports every one of them as "Incompatible Cartridge." The Event Log shows errors 17.00.35, 17.01.35, 17.02.35 and 17.03.35 — one per slot — which I believe points to a cartridge region mismatch rather than a faulty cartridge.

What's the correct way to have the printer's supply region changed so it accepts genuine cartridges from the new region? Is there a self-service reset for this model, or does it need to be done by HP? Thanks.

I notified the moderator of the problem.

Changing the region code can be difficult as described here.

When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.

I read that only 3 or 4 region changes are allowed. It depends on which AI bot I ask.

You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges need to be in the warranty period.
