Hi @Abisuresh,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4800 series printer is not printing with the black cartridge after a replacement, even though it shows a full ink level, here are a few steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Check for Protective Seals
- Ensure that the plastic tape covering the ink nozzle on the new cartridge has been fully removed. Sometimes, part of the seal can remain, blocking the ink from flowing.
Run a Printer Cleaning Cycle
- Go to your printer's settings and find the option to clean the printhead. This can often resolve issues with new cartridges by clearing any blockages or dried ink.
- You can access this through your HP Smart app or the printer's control panel under "Maintenance" or "Tools" settings.
Align the Printhead
- After replacing cartridges, the printer usually asks for an alignment. If it skipped this step, manually align the printhead via the printer’s settings menu. This ensures the printer properly recognizes and uses the new cartridge.
Perform a Printhead Test
- Print a test page to check if any ink is coming through. If black ink is missing from the print, there may be a clog or issue with the printhead.
Check Cartridge Compatibility
- Verify that the black ink cartridge you installed is the correct model for your HP 4800 series printer. Using a non-compatible or off-brand cartridge can sometimes lead to issues even if the ink levels appear correct.
Reseat the Cartridge
- Remove and reinsert the black cartridge. Sometimes, a poor connection between the cartridge and the printer can prevent it from working correctly. Make sure it's firmly seated.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, and plug it back in. Restarting can reset any temporary errors the printer may be experiencing.
Update Printer Firmware
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer via the HP website or HP Smart app. Outdated firmware may cause issues with recognizing new cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
