Hi, I have an ENVY 6032e. I replaced the cartridges with new HP cartridges. While the app shows the cartridges to be full, it is stuck 'validating'. I've removed the cartridges and cleaned the contacts (on each cartridge, and in the printer), I've also turned the printer off, unplugged it for 5 mins, then rebooted it. It's still validating and I'm unable to print. The printer worked with the old cartridges, but only gave me half a page... hence I replaced the cartridges. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @TroyS69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for explaining the issue so clearly. I can feel how frustrating it must be to replace your HP ENVY 6032e cartridges with genuine HP ink, only to be stuck on “Validating...” especially after cleaning contacts, rebooting, and trying everything you could. Let’s walk through this together.

Recommended Fixes to Resolve “Validating” Loop

1. Check Cartridge Type

Make sure you're using standard HP 305 or 305XL cartridges, not Instant Ink cartridges unless enrolled in HP Instant Ink.

If you previously used Instant Ink and cancelled, the printer may reject those cartridges even if they’re full.

2. Perform a Full Power Reset

This clears memory and forces a fresh validation attempt.

Steps:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the wall and wait 2–3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Wait 1–2 minutes before interacting with the touchscreen.

3. Clean Cartridge Contacts Again

Even a tiny smudge can block communication.

  • Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Let everything dry fully before reinserting.

4. Update Firmware via HP App

Outdated firmware can cause validation loops.

  • Open the HP app on your phone or PC.
  • Go to Printer Settings → Advanced Settings → Printer Updates
  • Install any available updates and restart the printer.

5. Disable Web Services (Optional)

If the printer is stuck trying to validate via HP’s cloud, disabling Web Services may help.

Steps:

  • Print the Network Configuration Page (press Wireless + Info buttons together).
  • Enter the printer’s IP address in a browser to open the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Go to the Web Services tab → Disable Web Services.
  • Restart the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi VikramTheGreat, many thanks for taking the time to respond. I must admit, I was getting a little frustrated, but had managed to resolve it, albeit over a couple of days! In the end I did a combination of resetting the printer (several times), cleaning the contracts on the new cartridges and printer (several times), and downloading the new HP App. It just suddenly worked... perhaps it got fed up with my persistence (or my threat to put it in the skip and purchase an Epson)! Thank you again for your helpful suggestions. Cheers...

Hi @TroyS69,

That’s wonderful to hear, and honestly, your persistence really paid off! 😄

Printers can sometimes be stubborn, but it sounds like you handled it perfectly. A good reset, a bit of cleaning, and a fresh start with the HP App often do the trick. We’re genuinely glad it’s back up and running for you (and that it escaped the skip just in time!).

Thank you for taking the time to share your update and for your patience while troubleshooting. It really helps others, too. If you ever need any more assistance, we’ll be right here to help.

Cheers and happy printing! 🖨

Take care and have an amazing day!
