HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer. I am getting a Cartridges Rejected error:

“The indicated cartridges have been recently identified as altered or cloned.”

We did purchase generic cartridges online before we realized we could only use original HP cartridges. We have now put in HP factory cartridges and we still have the error. How do we get rid of this error?

We have tried unplugging the printer removing cartridges cleaning the contacts. Nothing seems to work.

We would appreciate any tips on how to resolve this error. You can respond to this post or contact me via email at ERODRIGU013@**bleep**.com

Thank you

Hi @erodriguez,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.

Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the HP factory cartridges currently installed.
  • Inspect the cartridges and the contacts in the cartridge slots. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the HP factory cartridges and ensure they are properly seated.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with genuine HP cartridges.
  • To update firmware, visit the HP support website and download the latest firmware for your printer model. Follow the provided instructions to apply the update.

Reset the Printer:

  • Restore the printer to factory settings to clear any residual errors.
  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore.

Check for International Differences:

  • Ensure the cartridges you are using are compatible with your region. HP cartridges are region-specific; using cartridges from a different region than the printer is registered in can cause errors.

Let me know how it goes.
