Cartridges problem

Hi @Tammyfinney

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your printer cartridges. To help resolve it, I'll need a little more information about what specific problem you're encountering with your cartridges. Are you seeing an error message? Is the printer not recognizing the cartridges? Are there issues with the ink quality or print output?

Here are a few general steps you can try to troubleshoot common cartridge-related issues:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure the cartridges are properly installed. If they aren’t seated correctly, the printer might not recognize them. Gently remove the cartridges and reinstall them, ensuring they are clicked securely into place.

2. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Double-check that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your printer model. For example, if you’ve recently replaced them, make sure they’re the correct size and model for your printer.

3. Inspect for Ink Leaks or Blockages

  • Look for any signs of ink leaks or dried ink around the cartridges. If you see any buildup of ink or debris, use a lint-free cloth to clean the cartridge contacts carefully.
  • If your printer has a printhead, check that it’s not clogged with ink. Some printers allow you to clean the printhead manually via the printer settings menu.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds. This can help reset the internal settings and clear any errors.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the problem persists.

5. Check Ink Levels

  • If the printer is showing that the cartridges are low or empty even though they’re new, you might need to check the ink levels through the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.
  • If the printer doesn't accurately reflect the ink levels, try performing a printer calibration to get the sensors reset.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, errors related to cartridges can be fixed by installing the latest updates.

7. Try a New Cartridge

  • If none of the above steps work and the issue persists with both cartridges (or if the printer is still showing a "cartridge problem"), it might be worth trying a new set of cartridges to see if the issue is with the cartridges themselves.

I hope this helps.
