iOS

Away from home without a laptop. I have an HP envy 6200 series printer . Ink supplied by Instant Ink.  I have access to my IPad and android phone only. I need to print photos but getting white horizontal lines on page about an inch apart all down the page.

Done alignment and cleaned cartridges. iPad doesn’t not have option to change the print quality or media type and neither does the HP smart app on iPad.

Is it possible to work around this? Is their a 3rd party app for either IOS or Android phone that has the option to change media type to photo paper and print quality  to best?

thanks

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Does the copy print out the same way?
  • What is the media type used on the printer?
  • Are you using HP smart app?

Print documents, photos, and web pages from iPhone and iPad apps with a print feature.

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on, cartridges are installed, and the paper you want to print on is loaded in the correct paper tray.

  2. Open the item you want to print, and then tap the Share icon ( or ).

  3. Tap Print or the Print icon .

  4. Select your printer, and then change print settings such as paper size, number of copies, or page range. Available settings depend on the app you are printing from, the print job type, and your printer.

  5. Tap Print.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I am using the HP Smart app.

I have been printing a lot from the pages app as well.

the AirPrint app settings do not give a choice of paper type or quality.

if anything the white lines are worse using photo paper.

I have another HP envy 7100 at home that does the same thing but if I can use windows I can choose the quality and type of paper and the results are perfect. However at the moment I do not have a laptop available so wondered if there was a way around the problem to either use an app that has these setting or a method online. As yet I have not tried the copy setting but I can change these setting for copying to the best quality and photo paper from the screen on the printer.

Are you able to print from other devices?

Print photos using the HP Smart app on your iOS device.

  1. Open the HP Smart app, and then select your printer on the home screen.

  2. Tap the Print photos tile.

  3. Browse to and select the photo you want to print.

  4. In the Preview window, tap the Edit icon, change any print settings, and then tap Done.

  5. Tap Print, and then swipe up on the screen to choose the correct paper size and type you loaded into the printer.

  6. Tap Print to print the photo.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
