We are remote so not able to hook yhe DeskJet 2755e to the internet to run diagnostics or “clean the print heads ”. Now we have turned the printer on and off so not even sure how to hook this back up. BUT it hasn’t been used in a while and the print heads need to be cleaned. How to clesn them when not connected to the internet and the hpsmart app requires you to have the printer connected to internet. Help!

Hi @MrsPB,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to clean the printheads of your HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer without internet or the HP Smart app, you can follow these steps:
Manual Printhead Cleaning Using the Printer’s Control Panel
Turn on the printer: Ensure the printer is powered on.
Access the maintenance menu:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Cancel button (the red "X") and the Start Copy Color button (the color copy button) simultaneously for about 5 seconds.
- This should initiate a cleaning cycle.
Print a test page: After the cleaning cycle is complete, print a test page to check the print quality:
- Press the Resume button (the button with the paper and triangle icon) to print a diagnostic page.
Repeat if necessary: If the print quality has not improved, repeat the cleaning process up to 2–3 times.
Manual Cleaning of the Cartridges
If the automated cleaning doesn’t work, you can clean the cartridges manually:
Gather supplies:
- Lint-free cloth or paper towel.
- Distilled or bottled water (do not use tap water).
- Cotton swabs (optional).
Remove the cartridges:
- Open the printer cover and wait until the cartridges move to the center.
- Gently remove the cartridges by pressing down and pulling them out.
Clean the nozzles:
- Dampen a lint-free cloth with a small amount of distilled water.
- Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts and nozzles of the cartridge. Avoid touching the electrical contacts with your fingers.
- Use a dry lint-free cloth to remove any moisture.
Reinsert the cartridges:
- Place the cartridges back into their slots and close the printer cover.
Run another cleaning cycle:
- Use the printer control panel to initiate another cleaning cycle if needed.
Reconnecting the Printer to WiFi (Optional)
If you want to reconnect the printer to the internet later:
Reset WiFi settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button simultaneously for 3 seconds until the WiFi light starts blinking.
- This resets the WiFi settings to default.
Use a Mac to reconnect:
- Go to your Mac’s WiFi settings and connect to the printer’s WiFi (it will appear as HP-Setup-DeskJet...).
- Open a browser and type 192.168.223.1 to access the printer’s setup page.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your WiFi network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
