Hi @Pat362,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your color cartridge is not printing, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:
1. Check Cartridge Installation
- Verify Seating: Ensure the color cartridge is installed correctly and clicks into place securely.
- Remove and Reinsert: Sometimes, simply removing and reinserting the cartridge can resolve the issue.
2. Inspect for Protective Tape
- Ensure that any protective tape or seals on the cartridge have been removed before installation.
3. Check Ink Levels
- Even if the cartridge is new, check the ink levels to ensure it is not empty or defective.
4. Run Printhead Cleaning
- Access the printer’s maintenance menu and run the printhead cleaning utility. This can help clear any blockages in the nozzles.
5. Print Quality Diagnostic
- Print a test page or diagnostic page to see if color prints. This will help determine if the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.
6. Update Printer Drivers
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download the latest drivers for your model.
7. Check Printer Settings
- Make sure that the printer settings are configured to print in color:
- On Windows, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printing Preferences. Ensure "Color" is selected.
- On Mac, go to Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and check the settings.
8. Reset Printer Settings
- If all else fails, consider resetting the printer to factory settings. Check the manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
9. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
