Color laser jet pro mfp 3301 cdw ... ordered new ink cartridges and installed but they are not working. New ones do not have the "chip" and original has been thrown out so I can't transfer.  Can chips be purchased separately?

@MaryV123, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301cdw

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

HP toner cartridges come with a chip that is essential for communication between the printer and the cartridge. Unfortunately, if the new cartridges don’t have the chip and the original ones are no longer available for transfer, the printer won’t recognize them. At this time, HP does not sell the chips separately, and they aren’t available for individual purchase.

To get your printer up and running, I’d recommend checking if the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges (as third-party ones might lack the necessary components).

Let me know if you need help with anything else—I’m happy to assist!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
