HP ENVY 5661 e-All-in-One Printer

I don’t know what happened but this morning, I tried to print some photos and documents but my printer returned all blank plain A4 and photo pages. I think something went wrong with the ink carridges, even though both cartridges are fully filled. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi @David1775

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with an issue where your printer isn't printing in color or black, even though the ink cartridges are full. This could be due to several reasons, such as clogged printheads, incorrect printer settings, or software issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure the cartridges are correctly installed: Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to make sure they’re seated properly in their slots.
  • Check for protective tape: If you recently installed new cartridges, make sure the protective plastic tape or seal on the cartridge has been removed.
  • Inspect the cartridges: Even though they are full, sometimes the ink can be dried out or the cartridge can malfunction. Try gently shaking the cartridge to distribute the ink and ensure it's flowing properly.

2. Clean the Printhead

If your printer uses an integrated printhead (common with HP printers), clogged printheads can cause blank prints. Here’s how to clean them:

  • Open the printer cover and locate the ink cartridges.
  • Check for any visible clogs or dried ink in the printhead area.
  • If your printer has a printhead cleaning option:
    • Go to your printer’s control panel (either on the printer or via the software on your computer).
    • Select Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead or a similar option.
  • If you don’t have this option, you can also clean the printhead manually using a lint-free cloth and a little isopropyl alcohol. Gently wipe the printhead contacts (be careful not to touch the ink nozzles directly with your fingers).

I hope this helps.
