Hi @micronykss,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble with color printing on your HP Smart Tank 790 All-in-One printer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.
Check Ink Levels: Even if the tanks are filled, double-check the ink levels to ensure there is enough ink, particularly for the color cartridges.
Print Quality Settings: Make sure the print quality settings are set to “Best” or “High Quality” in the printer settings. Sometimes, lower settings can result in faded or less vibrant prints.
Clean Print Heads: Use the printer’s utility software to perform a print head cleaning. This can help clear any clogs in the nozzles that might be affecting color output.
- On your printer's control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
Print a Test Page: Print a test page or a diagnostic page to see if all colors are being printed correctly. This can help identify if one of the colors is not functioning.
Check for Software Updates: Ensure your printer firmware and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve performance issues.
Paper Type: Ensure you’re using the correct type of paper for color printing. Using standard paper may not yield the best results for color prints. Consider using photo paper or high-quality inkjet paper.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor: This is a free tool from HP that can help diagnose and fix printing problems. Download it from the HP website and follow the instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
