I noticed my printed pages were blurry, upon a closer look, I noticed there were red lines to the left of the image and green lines to the right, I tried aligning the printer, but it kept saying "print quality set to default" and then not aligning, then I reset my printer, tried to aligning it again, and it said it was successful, but when I printed another page, it still had the exact same problem. I've cleaned the cartridges multiple times and uninstalled and reinstalled the cartridges and nothing seems to have helped.

Hi @jamieh23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are experiencing color misalignment issues with your HP Envy 5440, such as blurry prints with red and green lines on opposite sides of an image, even after attempting to align the printer. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Printhead Alignment:

  • Ensure the printhead is properly aligned. Even if the printer indicates a successful alignment, double-check by repeating the process, making sure that there are no interruptions during the alignment procedure.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Access the printer's settings and select the option to clean the printhead. Repeat the cleaning process a couple of times as necessary to ensure no ink residue or blockage is affecting the print quality.

Inspect Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed and not running low on ink. Remove and reinstall them to ensure they are properly seated. Check for any physical damage or ink leakage.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Verify that the print settings on your computer are set to the appropriate quality level. Ensure that the correct paper type is selected in both the printer settings and the print driver on your computer.

Use Genuine HP Supplies:

  • Confirm that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges and not refilled or third-party cartridges, as these might cause color inaccuracies.

Update Printer Firmware:

Try a Different Paper:

  • Occasionally, the type or quality of paper can affect print results. Try using a different type of paper, preferably one recommended by HP.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, leave it for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and power it on.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
