The colours being printed are completely wrong. The test sheet shows 1. Cyan 2. Pink. 3. Brown. 4. Green. The yellow is missing completely and the pink should obviously be red. Even the green does not look right. I have replaced all cartridges. I have cleaned the head several times. Is there anything else I can try or is the printer scrap? The warranty only ran out 1 year ago.

Can no one help? Beginning to look like scrapping a fairly new printer.

Hi @sydh1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the colors are printing incorrectly on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-In-One Printer, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve the problem.

  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure that your printer has enough ink in all the cartridges. Low ink levels can lead to color inaccuracies.
  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the color cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots. Double-check if any of the cartridges are not properly seated or locked in.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Most printers have a built-in print quality diagnostic tool. You can access this through the printer's control panel or the printer software on your computer. Run a print quality test to identify any specific color alignment or calibration issues.
  • Clean Print Heads: Over time, print heads can become clogged with dried ink, leading to color inconsistencies. Many printers have a maintenance option to clean the print heads. This can usually be found in the printer settings or software.
  • Calibrate Colors: Some printers allow you to calibrate the colors to improve accuracy. Check your printer settings or software for color calibration options.
  • Update Drivers and Firmware: Outdated printer drivers or firmware can sometimes lead to printing issues. Visit the HP support website and make sure you have the latest drivers and firmware for your printer.
  • Use Original Cartridges: Non-HP or refilled cartridges might not provide accurate colors. Using genuine HP ink cartridges is recommended.
  • Check Paper Type and Settings: Ensure that you're using the correct paper type settings for the type of paper you're using. Incorrect settings can affect color output.
  • Check Software Settings: When printing from a computer, ensure that the color settings in the software you're using (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop) match your intended color output.
  • Check for Updates: Some printers can receive updates that improve color accuracy. Check the HP support website or your printer's control panel for any available updates.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: If none of the above steps work, you might want to try performing a hard reset on the printer. This can sometimes resolve software glitches causing color issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have tried all of that. Even the hard reset that HP told me how to do. The colours are not SLIGHTLY out - they are way out. Yellow printing brown for instance.
