I was trying to install refillable cartridges. I received an error about the printhead so I removed it. I replaced it and now I'm getting a long error message about "turning the machine off/on", and ending with "contact HP". I think there is air in the system and it just needs to be cleaned out several times. I can't do that because the error message comes up immediately upon startup. Thanks for your help!

@DrJohn3 Here's all you need to know and do, to identify and resolve the issue:

 

Step 1: Reset the printer

Reset the printer to try and recover from printer failures.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.

  3. Wait 60 seconds.

  4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

    NOTE: 

    HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
