HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One

I don't know if this issue was there when I bought 2 years ago, but I have not added ink as they show 3/4 full.  But ant test print, cyan does not show up.  I tried the clean print head all 3 levels but nothing.

I even added toner but still nothing...

Hi @billf24

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. Since the cyan color is completely missing on your HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One and the printhead cleaning cycles have already been performed without improvement, the issue is likely related to ink flow, the cyan printhead nozzles, or printhead maintenance.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page from the printer's control panel.

  • Check whether the cyan color block is completely blank or has missing lines.
  • This helps confirm whether the cyan nozzles are receiving ink.

Verify the cyan ink tank.

  • Confirm the cyan tank contains ink above the minimum line.
  • Ensure the tank cap is properly secured and the tank vent is open.

Perform a Printhead Cleaning followed by Printhead Alignment.

  • Use the printer menu or HP App.
  • After each cleaning cycle, print a test page before running another cycle.

If cyan is still absent, remove and inspect the printheads.

  • Open the printhead access area.
  • Ensure the blue-colored printhead latch is fully seated and locked.
  • Check for any visible protective material, debris, or dried ink around the printhead contacts and nozzles.

Clean the printhead and electrical contacts.

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the printhead and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Allow everything to dry completely before reinstalling.

Reinstall the printheads and print another diagnostic page.

  • If black, magenta, and yellow print correctly but cyan remains completely missing, the cyan printhead may not be delivering ink properly.

Since the printer has been operating for about two years without needing much ink replenishment, it is also possible that the cyan nozzles have become restricted from extended periods of light usage. Printing several full-color test pages after cleaning can sometimes help restore ink flow.

Please share:

  • A photo of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page.
  • Whether the cyan section is completely blank or partially printing.
  • Any error messages shown on the printer display or in the HP App.

With that information, we can guide you to the next appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello Hawk_Eye,

Thanks for the reply.

I had previously done all that you suggested with the exception of the print head as it is not accessible on a tank printer.

The quality page, cyan is completely missing.
