HP Smart Tank 519 Wireless All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Yellow and Cyan colors are not printing, and I noticed that the ink tubes have a lot of air about halfway between the ink tank and the cartridge. This is the reason why the ink does not go all the way up to the cartridge. I have tried a lot of videos to remove air, but the problem is, after removing air manually, air returns back, giving same results. How can I flush the air out of the tubes for good? Can it be an issue of printhead? Although there is no error/malfunction notification in the printer.

I missed one point to mention, i.e., the issue is with the printer, regardless of the source device OS.

Hi @emadmayub,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the added detail — that’s helpful. Since the problem with your HP Smart Tank 519 Wireless All-in-One occurs regardless of the device or OS, we can safely confirm it’s a hardware-level issue within the printer itself, likely related to air in the ink lines or a printhead malfunction.

Let’s tackle this in a thorough, step-by-step way:

STEP 1: Perform Printhead Cleaning from the HP Smart App

You’ll need a phone, tablet, or Windows PC with the HP Smart app installed.

📲 Here’s how:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Select your printer from the main screen.
  3. Tap “Printer Settings” or “Tools” (depends on platform).
  4. Tap “Print Quality Tools” > Clean Printheads.

Let the cleaning cycle finish — it may take 1–2 minutes.

📌 Tip: You might need to run this 2–3 times for full effect. After each run, print a test page to check if Cyan and Yellow return.

STEP 2: Visually Check the Ink Tubes and Tank Caps

  • Open the ink tank cover and make sure the caps on all ink tanks are sealed tightly.
  • Loose caps = air leaks — especially common with Yellow/Cyan tanks.
  • Also, check that the ink levels are sufficient — if they’re too low, ink can’t travel properly.

STEP 3: Power Reset + Air Purge Attempt

Here’s a manual purge trick to try:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cable completely for 60 seconds.
  3. While it’s off, open the ink tank lid and tap gently along the Cyan and Yellow tubes (don’t force ink — just nudge air bubbles gently forward).
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  5. Run another printhead cleaning cycle from the HP Smart app.

🧠 Why this helps: Power cycling can reinitialise the internal suction system. Tapping the tubes helps move trapped air toward the printhead for ejection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Vikram,

Thank you for the detailed provided steps. However, just to let you know that I had already peformed all of the actions mentioned by you, before posting my issue here in support forum.

Let me know if there is any other way or changing the Printhead is the only option.

Furthermore, will this solve the issue or the issue can lead to board issues?

Waiting for your feedback.

Regards,

Emad
