Cyan cartridge clogged. Why how do I prevent this? Cleaned printhead multiple times now cyan is maybe working at 50% level still no good. How do I fix this. What a waste of ink and paper 😡

Hi @mla123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand the frustration, especially after already using several cleaning cycles and going through that much ink and paper. We can certainly try to help you get the cyan printing correctly again.

Since the correct troubleshooting steps depend heavily on the exact HP printer model, could you please provide the full printer model (for example, HP ENVY, OfficeJet, DeskJet, Smart Tank, etc.)?

Also, please let us know:

  • Is the cyan completely missing, faded, or showing white streaks?
  • Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or an ink tank/refill system?
  • Have you already printed a Print Quality Diagnostic Report? If so, please share a clear photo of it with us privately.

For now, I recommend not running the printhead cleaning repeatedly. Cleaning consumes ink, and HP notes that badly clogged printheads may require another cleaning cycle, but you should allow time between repeated cleaning cycles.

Once you provide the exact printer model and the diagnostic page, we can check the correct HP procedure for that printer and determine whether this is a cyan cartridge/ink-delivery issue, a clogged printhead, or something that requires further service.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
