Hi @Ted3851,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since cyan prints fine on a test page but not on normal print jobs, it suggests that the printer is capable of outputting colour, but something in the print settings, software, or driver may be preventing that cyan from coming through during everyday use.

Let’s walk through a few steps. This will help to try and resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check Print Settings in Windows

  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Go to File > Print > Printer Properties.
  3. Look for the Color Options or Advanced settings.
  4. Make sure it’s set to Color and not “Black & White” or “Grayscale.”
  5. Try printing a page again.

Step 2: Print a Quality Diagnostic Page

This helps isolate hardware vs software issues:

  1. On the printer screen, go to: Setup → Printer Maintenance → Print Quality Report.
  2. Check the cyan section of the color blocks.
    • If cyan shows up here, then the ink system is working — the problem is likely software-side.

Step 3: Clean Printhead Again (Deeper Cleaning)

Even if you’ve done this once, HP recommends:

  1. On the printer control panel: Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  2. Run the clean cycle.
  3. If needed, repeat it up to 2 more times, but no more (to avoid wasting ink).
  4. Print a test page after each clean.

Step 4: Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  1. Go to HP Software & Driver Downloads.
  2. Enter HP Officejet Pro 6960, select Windows 10 (64-bit).
  3. Download and install the latest Full Feature Software and Drivers.
  4. After installation, restart your PC.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
