When your HP printer prints double-sided pages in opposite directions, it’s usually a duplex setting issue. The printer is flipping the second page incorrectly, which makes the back side upside down compared to the front.


Steps to Fix:

On Windows

  1. Open Print Settings in the app you’re printing from.
  2. Click Printer Properties or Preferences.
  3. Under Print on Both Sides (or Duplex): 
    • Choose Flip on Long Edge for book-style (same orientation).
    • Choose Flip on Short Edge for tablet-style (opposite orientation).
  4. Apply and print again.


On macOS

  1. In the print dialog, click Layout.
  2. Under Two-Sided, select: 
    • Long-edge binding for the same direction.
    • Short-edge binding for the opposite direction.
