DRM for HP ink has convinced me to abandon my HP printer

The DRM policy that is preventing me to purchase 3rd party ink cartridges is a great way to drive away future business.  I have had HP printers, laptops and other products for the past 20+ years.  However, I can not justify buying 4 HP cartridges that cost 40 dollars a piece when I used to be able to get all four for 30 dollars using off brands.  It will not take long to make up the difference by purchasing a new Epson Eco Tank ET-4850 or ET-3843.  You have in essence bricked my old printer, which is ridiculous, but I am tired of fighting with my cartridges every time I need to reorder due to updated firmware that tries to rob me.  Not that you care about losing one customer, but just thought I would voice my thoughts anyway.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. 

You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it is not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
