Hi my old deskjet 3070a printer has been giving me grief recently. Print quality was very poor but I tried all the usual routines of cleaning print heads, realigning etc. with no joy. Then it told me all my print cartridges were either empty or were counterfeit so I bought a set of new ones. Unfortunately I got the same response with the new cartridges - they were all empty or counterfeit! I then discovered the original cartridges were actually between half and nearly full! 

It looks like my printer has had it's day and I need a new one - I think I have exhausted all the helpline "fixes" other than perhaps a new print head which might be a gamble. However, I have now got two sets of colour and black cartridges costing me over £80 which I can't use - the printer only cost £40 some years ago. 

My question is - can I buy a new printer which will use my cartridges - they are hp364?

I understand you are not able to use the printer. 

 

Make sure the ink cartridges are properly inserted in the printer, you may refer to - Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges

 

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Ink cartridge error

This printer does not have a removable printhead. If the issue persists, and if the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

 

To check which printer uses HP 364 ink cartridges, refer to this document.

Hi Kumar,

Many thanks for your response - I have gone through that entire process but first replacing all four cartridges in the printer. Print quality has improved with the exception of the black cartridge which has lines missing on the test page. The colours seem ok. The black print quality was so poor that the page could not be detected when trying to do an alignment scan. All four cartridges are new, genuine HP products. 

What can I try next?
