HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer

Just purchased genuine 902 ink cartridges and toner replacements from target and they are the HP brand and I’ve tried unplugging, resetting, and putting all old cartridges back in and the printer continues to say that the brand new HP cartridges are defective. What do I need to do because this makes me want to throw my printer out the window and switch brands. This is ridiculous.

@McKenziestew, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query.

Ugh, that sounds so frustrating 😖! You just want things to work, especially after spending money on brand-new cartridges, and now your printer is being a pain about it. It's the worst when tech just won't cooperate. 😩

But don’t worry, there are a few steps we can try to get this sorted out before you make that drastic move! 😬 Here's what we can try next...

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
  •

Also, I highly recommend you refer to this guide: HP ink cartridge issues including, incompatible, missing and not recognized errors | HP® Support

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
