I purchased a 61 HP tri-color ink
jet cartridge from a CVS store today and replaced my existing cartridge in the printer. I went through the alignment process. I printed a few pages. At first the colors printed correctly, but after a few pages I started getting the wrong colors (no yellow) and streaking on the pages. I received an error message from the printer that the tri-color inkjet cartridge is "either used or counterfeit". How can I get a refund for this inkjet cartridge? The box has the HP logo and this appears to be a genuine HP product.

Hi @AliceSR,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with your HP Deskjet 3510 printer, particularly receiving an error message about a "defective or counterfeit" inkjet cartridge, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check the Ink Cartridge: Ensure that the ink cartridge you are using is genuine HP ink and not a third-party or counterfeit cartridge. Counterfeit or non-HP cartridges can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
- Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the tri-color inkjet cartridge and reseat it in the printer. Make sure it's securely and correctly installed.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the ink cartridge or inside the printer can become dirty or covered with ink residue. Carefully clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth and, if necessary, clean the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
- Check for Ink Levels: Make sure that the ink levels in the cartridge are not critically low. If they are, replace the cartridge with a new, genuine HP cartridge.
- Perform a Printer Reset: Reset the printer to its default settings. You can usually do this through the printer's menu or by powering it off and back on.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve compatibility issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
