Hi @remig,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing is common with refilled ink cartridges in HP DeskJet printers. Here's a step-by-step guide to address the problem.

Verify Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure you're using the correct cartridges for the HP DeskJet 2337 (usually HP 67 or HP 805, depending on your region).
  • If using refilled cartridges, ensure the cartridges were refilled properly and no damage occurred during the process.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the ink cartridge and gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely, then reinstall the cartridge.

Reset the Printer

  • Disconnect the printer from power and wait for 1–2 minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
  • Sometimes, resetting the printer helps recognize the refilled cartridge.

Check the Ink Levels in the App

  • Note that HP printers do not reset ink levels after a refill automatically. Instead, the low-ink indicator may persist even with a full cartridge.
  • As long as the printer functions and prints normally, you can ignore the ink level warnings.

Run a Diagnostic Test

  • Use the HP Smart app to perform a diagnostic test or alignment. This can sometimes recalibrate the printer to better recognize the cartridge.

Enable Cartridge Protection Settings

  • Log into your HP Smart app or printer settings.
  • Ensure that Cartridge Protection is turned off. If enabled, it might prevent the use of refilled cartridges.

Try a New Cartridge (Optional)

  • If all else fails, you might need to test with a new, genuine HP cartridge. This can help determine if the issue is with the refilled cartridge or the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
