Product: HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer

My HP Deskjet 2540 printer won’t recognise the blank ink cartridge.  I’ve installed three brand new, official, cartridges and am still having the same problem.  I’ve tried cleaning contacts and the running the print head clean but no joy.  My HP Smart app shows the black ink level as completely depleted despite me installing brand new cartridges.
