Hi @BettyMars,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue with the cartridge clip on your DeskJet 3700 printer. Let’s work together to guide you through reattaching it carefully.
- Is the clip intact, or does it appear to be damaged or broken?
- Were you able to identify exactly where the clip was originally positioned in the cartridge slot?
- Are you comfortable working with small, delicate parts, or do you need detailed step-by-step visuals?
Let's a few steps.
Examine the Clip and Cartridge Area:
- Inspect the white clip to ensure it’s not bent, cracked, or damaged.
- Look inside the cartridge slot to locate the hinge or groove where the clip was originally seated. This will likely be near the bottom or side of the slot.
Position the Clip:
- Orient the clip in the same direction as the one for the other cartridge (if it's still in place). This provides a reference for the correct positioning.
- Insert one side of the clip into the groove or hinge point first. Typically, the clip fits snugly into small slots on either side of the cartridge compartment.
Secure the Clip in Place:
- Using a small, flat tool like a precision screwdriver or tweezers, gently push the second side of the clip into the slot.
- Avoid excessive force to prevent breaking the clip or damaging the slot.
Test the Fit:
- Reinsert the cartridge to ensure the clip holds it securely in place.
- Close the printer cover and check for alignment or cartridge errors. If the cartridge is seated properly, the printer should recognize it without issues.
Seek Professional Help if Necessary:
- If the clip is difficult to reattach or appears damaged, contact HP Phone Support or a certified technician for assistance. Replacements for these clips might also be available from HP or third-party sellers.
Tips:
- Lighting and Tools: Use good lighting and small tools (like tweezers) for better control and visibility in the tight space.
- Take Your Time: Be patient while maneuvering the clip into position. Avoid rushing to prevent further damage.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
