Deskjet 990cxi not printing color.

I have an old deskjet 990cxi at work that isn't printing color. It cannot be replaced at this time and I need ideas on how to fix it.

It was only printing in pink and black so I replaced the cartridge and it still only prints in pink and black, but so light you can't even read it.

Please give my ideas on how to fix it to print in color.

Check the expiration date on the colour ink cartridge, if expired that can cause poor print quality. Are u using genuine ink cart or refill?

Both times they were new genuine HP ink cartridges with plenty of time before they expired.
