Hello all,

Can someone please tell me how to disable cartridge protection on my HP 9135e printer? I read where it is possible to do this.

Also, I read where it is possible to NOT subscribe to HP+ “instant ink” on the same printer. Can someone please tell me how I can do this with no issues later.

Thank you in advance.

At this writing
The HP+ service contract for this printer is optional

AND

Subscribing to Instant Ink is optional even should you decide to accept / enable HP+

The two contracts are separate.

For example,

  1. I have HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e printer
  2. I chose to enable the HP+ service contract on the printer to gain access to the extra scan features and Print Anywhere (new tech that replaced the old ePrint for remote printing).
  3. I do not have -- nor have I ever had -- an Instant Ink subscription on this or any printer.

The printer requires that all ink cartridges used in the printer include an HP chip embedded in the cartridge.

This limitation includes cartridges that are refilled (by you) and / or refilled and sold by any seller, or remanufactured .

This protection is called Dynamic Security.

There is no legal means of removing or bypassing the need for the HP chip in the ink cartridge.

HP does not sell, recommend, nor support any of used or refilled practices.

The use of of a used or refilled HP chipped cartridge might be tolerated by the printer.

Trouble with refilled / remanufactured ink?  See the ink seller for information, help, or support.

Requirements for HP+ printers

This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.

Keep the printer connected to the Internet

HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.

During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup, you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.

Use Original HP cartridges

Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP
supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Important

HP Instant Ink Print-by-Page subscription can be added to HP+ (but is not required).

Things that are HP+

Note that HP+ assistance is only available for registered HP+ printers.

Reminder

An HP Instant Ink subscription is not required as part of the HP+ setup or HP+ service.

What is an Instant Ink Promotion / Trial ?

The offer is generally for a one month or longer trial to HP Instant Ink subscription service.

To get the trial, you must sign up, select a plan, and commit to the print-by-page subscription model.

An HP Instant Ink subscription is a contact for service - ink is included in that service.

The trial is a suspension of the monthly plan costs during the trial period.

The printer must be connected to the Internet (Web Services) during the Trial and for the duration of the contract.  Connection is used by service to monitor plan usage status and by the printer to request ink.
