How do I disable HP CARTRIDGE PROTECTION?

Welcome to the HP Community --

Without you even telling us why you want to disable Cartridge Protection, I suspect the feature is not what you think.

How-to

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Supplies > Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

OR

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Supplies > tab Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

The Cartridge Protection feature permanently protects cartridges for use in only one fleet of products or product to help prevent theft.

This type of protection is useful in an environment where ink cartridges might be removed (stolen) from the printer for use elsewhere.

If, after cartridges have been protected, they are moved to a device outside the fleet (fleet based) or to a different printer (printer based), these cartridges will be identified as protected and will have to be replaced to continue printing.

Note:

When you turn on this feature, all cartridges installed in the printer will be protected. However, if you turn off this feature again, these cartridges will remain protected. Only cartridges installed afterwards will not have cartridge protection enabled.

What else?

Just in case you are actually asking about using non-HP ink cartridges in the printer, the following information applies to your printer.

Important

There is no legal way of bypassing the printer's security that requires you to use HP chipped ink cartridges.

This printer uses dynamic security, which may
be updated periodically by firmware updates. The printer is intended to be
used solely with cartridges using an original HP chip. Cartridges using a non‐
