HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, Community! As lots of people are experiencing, my printer seems to be impossible to resolve. In typical HP fashion, there is a firmware update for all versions of Officejet 8610, -20, -30, -40, etc. according to the released notes, but not the 8600 N911 specifically. Additionally, when I simply go to the firmware directly through my HP account and clicking on my exact model to download for, the firmware shows as not applicable once in the updater while other models' firmware does not recognize my printer on my network in the updater to even try that firmware option. So, I can't even update from the actual firmware listed for our model to see if it helps, roll everything back, or use another close model's firmware that is available with the updated DS-disabling feature. Ours has been problematic since we started using non-HP cartridges, rendering it completely useless. To keep things going while we awaited the lawsuit results, we had to outsource our printing when we have a perfectly usable robust printer that has no issues except this non-HP cartridge debacle and working its new job as a dust collector now. Thinking our printer would be included in the list of DS firmware changes once the case was settled yet wasn't, outsourcing was to be temporary. We can no longer operate in this way without on-demand printing as we need. So, is there anyone with a solution to bypass the dynamic security on the 8600 until a proper firmware update is available to allow disabling DS like on the other models; or, a way to change the DS settings that I cannot seem to find anywhere for this model?

As another solution, HP should be happy to offer some type of trade-in credit and/or non-subscription ink discount option for customers who have working units that no longer work solely because of their business practices. If only HP cartridges can be used, some of us have a stock of unusable competitor cartridges we can't do anything with. After decades of repeated offenses to its customers, one would think HP has learned that this isn't the way to customer retention. Definitely not by forcing long-term business in this way when some customers are dedicated to good products no matter what. We should have the choice to be dedicated, not have that choice forced or even taken away altogether. I understand their reasoning behind this whole event, including the one-sided long-term business objective, but it still should be the customer's choice on all models, not just new ones (or a thing in the first place). I've been dealing with this for some time now, so this is my last attempt to fix this situation before divorcing that dedication to an arranged (more like deranged) marriage and their $200 cartridges/unbeneficial subscriptions kids I can't stand. I will be out a working printer and multiple sets of new, unused cartridges which makes no sense to me as a decades long customer that had no cartridge issues pre-DS changes; but, I guess nothing lasts forever, unless and until it's forced to.

Thanks in advance to any usable firmware/settings suggestions, Community! You are appreciated! Let's solve this together.
