Hi @GregM9,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for your message. If your HP printer is showing that the cyan cartridge is damaged, even after you’ve installed two brand-new sets, it likely points to one of the following:
Power Reset the Printer
- Turn on the printer.
- With it on, unplug the power cord from the wall.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn the printer on.
- See if the error clears.
Remove and Clean the Cyan Cartridge and Electrical Contacts
- Power off the printer.
- Remove the cyan cartridge.
- Gently wipe the gold chip/contacts on the cartridge using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Do the same with the corresponding contact points inside the printer.
- Let everything dry completely.
- Reinsert the cartridge and power the printer back on.
Try a Different Cyan Cartridge
If you have two new sets, try inserting the other cyan cartridge from the second set.
If the second cyan cartridge shows as damaged, too, the issue may be with the printer hardware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
