Do I need HP printer cartridges if have the HP Cartridge Protection disabled? I have three  unopened generic printer packages. The two used prior from  same supplier which worked fine. Suddenly our printer will not accept the same type of non-HP cartridges. I tried all three packages and get same result. Will show full cartridges, then starts a "Preparing Printer" which is normal. But now when comes back up, shows all the cartridges being completely empty. I know they are not empty because they were in vacuum sealed bags. Also you can hear the liquid if shake a cartridge.

I did research and find the Disable Cartridge Protection needs turned set to "Disabled". I have done that. and tried several combinations with this feature turned to Disable and back to Protect. Along with the chip that informs if the cartridge level. No matter what I have tried, cannot get to actually print. Was working fine until the yellow cartridge was indicating empty. I was only printing in BLACK so didn't bother to change right away. After changing yellow and the variations, printer will not print. I am not sure why the problem started suddenly?
