Do new printers come with less ink in the cartridges. We dont use it much and it ran out

HP Deskjet 2720e admittedly not an expensive printer but not used much. Home printer just for documents no photos as yet. Suddenly both black and coloured cartridges ran out simultaneously. Even though there has not been any coloured used. more than setting up the scanner. so if the black in ran out within about 40 prints and started using colour to get black what is the point of this printer. Does the printer come with underfilled cartridges?

Yes, DeskJet printers are considered a good choice for a budget-friendly printer.

Yes, the Setup / in-box cartridges provide a smaller amount of ink than the standard cartridges and certainly the XL cartridges.
