Hello, I just wondered if pressing the 'Estimated Ink Levels' button on my HP Envy Photo 6220 printer's display screen to check ink levels actual used up ink levels in the cartridges?

If so, is it a good idea not to keep pressing this button to check inkjet levels too often?

No, pressing the "Estimated Ink Levels" button on your HP Envy Photo 6220 printer display does not use up any ink. This action only triggers a software reading of the estimated levels, meaning it is safe to check as often as you like without wasting ink.

  • How it Works: The printer calculates the remaining ink based on factory data and usage statistics, not a physical measurement.
  • Best Practice: Checking levels frequently (e.g., via the screen, the HP Smart app, or HP Printer Assistant) is a safe way to manage supplies.
  • When to Worry: Only actual printing (especially head cleanings or alignment) uses, and in some cases wastes, ink.

Therefore, there is no need to avoid using the button, as the action itself does not consume, spray, or dry out your cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Hello, many thanks for your reply. I now feel better pressing the button knowing no actual ink is being used to take the reading.

Thanks again. 😃
