HP Officejet 7310xi All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I found out the hard way that HP discontinued making the 96 ink cartridge for my Officejet 7310xi (model Q5563A) because HP didn't think it was necessary to notify me via email even though I registered the printer with HP when I purchased it, so they have my email address. I've read on HP's own website that the 98 ink cartridge DOES and DOES NOT replace the 96 ink cartridge ...

DOES: Go to https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/cat/ink--toner---paper then type "98" in the Search box and you'll see it says "Replaces HP 96" under the description. Unfortunately, my Officejet 7310xi is not listed as one of the "compatible printers" on that ink cartridge's product page, yet my printer has always used the 96 ink cartridge, so why wouldn't it work?

DOES NOT: Go to  https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-98-black-original-ink-cartridge-p-c9364wn-140--1#reviews , click "Reviews" then click "1 star" and read the comments.

So which is it -- DOES or DOES NOT? If 98 does not replace 96, then which black ink cartridge is compatible with my Officejet 7310xi (model Q5563A)?

Also, is HP going to discontinue the 97 color ink cartridge that my printer uses as well? If so, what's the replacement  color cartridge that will work with my printer if that is the case?

Thanks in advance for your answers (that hopefully solve my problem).
