HP ENVY Inspire 7920e All-in-One Printer

Hi, My printer's warranty expired last year and we have started having issues with cartridges not communicating. I have tried all of the trouble shooting steps (cleaning cartridges, powering off printer, replacing cartridges, returning printer settings to factory) and nothing works. I'm weighing up whether or not to get another printer. The only support available seems to be this community forum and by the time I've gt it repaired physically somewhere I'd imagine it would be more economical to go and get another printer. Does anyone have a view on this please?

Since you've already tried the basics (power cycling, cleaning, replacing cartridges, and factory reset), here are a few additional steps you can try:

Check Cartridge Compatibility

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition issues. Use the HP Smart app or visit the support page to update your printer’s firmware.

Use HP Virtual Assistant

HP offers a Virtual Assistant that can guide you through more advanced diagnostics and even check if your cartridges are eligible for replacement, even out of warranty.

Try a Hard Reset

Sometimes a deeper reset can help:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on while holding the Cancel + Wireless buttons for 10 seconds.
