HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer

Frustration level at maximum after meticulously following instructions and suggestions per HP support to clear EO flashing ink cartridge message on my Envy 6055. $130 into new HP cartridges per instructions, did the reset, used the distilled water the on the contacts, etc etc etc. 3 times. Out of warranty , this is out of the blue, no idea why this is happening now. Have always used HP correct cartridges so that's not it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi @Alfie81,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP ENVY 6055 continues to show an E0 flashing ink cartridge message even after replacing the cartridges and following reset steps. Let’s go through a few checks to help determine what may be preventing the error from clearing.

Confirm cartridge installation
Remove all ink cartridges and reinstall them one at a time, ensuring each clicks firmly into place.
Close the cartridge access door completely and wait for the printer to finish initializing.

Verify cartridge venting
Remove each cartridge and check the small vent area near the top.
If the vent is blocked by tape or residue, gently clear it to allow proper ink pressure detection.

Inspect cartridge and carriage contacts
Power off the printer and unplug the power cord.
Check the copper contacts inside the printer for ink buildup, debris, or damage that could block cartridge communication.

Perform a full power reset
With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds, reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet, and turn the printer back on.

Check for firmware-related issues
Ensure the printer is connected to the network and allow it to remain powered on for several minutes.
This allows the printer to complete any pending firmware processes that may affect cartridge detection.

Test with one cartridge installed
Remove both cartridges and install only the black cartridge, then power on the printer.
Repeat the test with only the tri-color cartridge installed to identify whether the error is tied to one cartridge or slot.

Check for carriage movement or obstruction
Open the cartridge access door and verify the carriage moves freely from side to side.
Any resistance or abnormal movement can cause cartridge detection errors.

I hope this helps.
