Dear Folks,
I am disappointed about the HP service & support for the printer that is out of warranty : (.
Hope I can get help here to fix my issues.
I have purchased this printer (Model No: B2L57B) in INDIA and currently take it with me in EUROPE to use it. I completely have no idea that HP cartridge models designed for region based : (.
I bought new cartridge HP 678 black and color from Amazon India and when I tried to use here in EUROPE I got Cartridge error "Incompatible Ink Cartridges" ONLY FOR TRI-COLOR. (Note: Black 678 is working fine).
Now, here is my confusion, am I stuck with Cartridge issue or Region to be reset since Black 678 cartridge is working fine and only Tri-Color showing that error message.
Please advise the mentioned below:
- DO I need to buy new Tri-Color 678 and try again?
- DO I need to request RESET the REGION since I take it from INDIA and using in EU?
- DO I need to try Cartridge HP 650 which is supporting EU region?
Your advise greatly helpful.
Thanks Again!

1. Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or Or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.
2. Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.
3. Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.
4. If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.
Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here.
1) On the set new region window where it says "Enter reset code provided by the support personnel" enter this number- It should be like this:
Box 41- 0000
Box 42- 0000
Box 43- 0000
Box 44- 0000
Box 45- 0000
2) Once you enter the value you will get a 5 digit value below the code you have entered in box 51.
3) If the box 51 value is 00000then click OK.
4) If it doesn't match then take a picture of the screen and send it to me.
5) Once you click on OK, you should get a message "Device region reset succeeded

Welcome to HP Support Community
I would like to help
If you bought the printer in India and using the correct cartridge no then it's not an issue with regionalization Reset since moreover black is working
Regionalization Reset is required if you will be using Europe Region cartridges in the printer which you bought from India
Please try these steps
- Turn on the printer.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
- Remove the ink cartridges from the printer and clean the electrical contacts with a lint free cloth
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
- If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
Also ensure the printer has the latest Firmware https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168
If the issue persists then it would be a problem with the cartridge and you need to contact HP Support for replacement cartridges
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
Thank you

Dear KrazyToad,
Thank you for your response, I have tried your recommendations and mentioned below is the detail for your reference.
- First recommendations tried and getting the same error (Incompatible Ink Cartridge) for TriColor.
- Already downloaded the latest firmware successfully.
- Most of the time my TriColor Ink ID shows always 0000 like mentioned below.
Printer SN: CN38517KPF05XJ
Total Page Count: 2566
TriColor Ink ID: 0000000000000000 (sometime this id showing: F041EF64164CB29F)
Black Ink ID: 009853E4502552B9
RX(last 4 digits): 0000
Since most of them saying its Cartridge issue, can you please recommend the below:
- As I am already using this printer from INDIA to EU region currently, can I use HP 650 Tri-Color (EU) and request for Regionalization Reset, if its possible, please let me know the procedure.
- Also I didn't know that HP printer cartridge is restricted with region, so it will be really helpful if you can advise me how to use the EU region cartridge with the reset option.
Thank you for your time!.
Regards,

Before doing a Regionalization Reset please check the following
1. Is your printer connected to your computer via a USB cable? If not, please connect it using a USB cable.
2. Do you have a full feature printer software? To find out if you have a full feature drivers installed, try these steps: On desktop, you will find you Printer icon, click on it and let me know if Printer assistant opens
3. If you do not see the Icon on the desktop screen, Click on start > Go to All programs > Look for Printer name > Click on it and again click on your Printer name. This should open printer assistant.
4. If you don't find Printer assistant, please download full feature software from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers, enter the Product Number and select the correct Operating System.
