OK< new HP 7602 All-In-One printing, connected to WiFi, but #10 envelopes have to be put in center of paper tray, face down, flap on the right, no rotation check to have them printed on the correct side. The printer tray show the envelope face down with the fold-over flap on the left. The HP support Assistant just downloaded newest version will not recognize the printer. AI instructions just send me in circles. Print quality is perfect for 8-1/2" X 11" paper perfect. Believer other functions: Scan and Copy also function. Tested print of envelopes on ones that had been printed. May need only a stock of perfectly new, flat ones. Help, advice needed for the HP Support Assistant to function and what to do with envelope quality. The old OfficeJet Pro 8710 did well, envelope face down, flap left Counter Clockwise rotation checked. Does Windows 10 using MS Office 2019 recognize the printer in the envelope set up?

Envelope Printing – Setup & Quality Fixes

The HP Smart Tank 7602 requires precise envelope loading and print settings to avoid blotchy or ragged output. Here's how to ensure optimal results:

Correct Envelope Loading

  • Load #10 envelopesface down, flap on the left, and centered in the input tray.
  • This orientation may differ from the tray icon, but it aligns with how ink is applied in the Smart Tank series.
  • Ensure envelopes are flat, not curled or pre-printed, as wrinkled ones can cause ink smearing.

Print Settings in MS Word (Office 2019)

  1. Go to Mailings > Envelopes > Options.
  2. Under Envelope Options, select:
    • Envelope size: #10
    • Feed method: Face down, flap left (adjust based on tray icon)
    • Clockwise rotation: Unchecked
  3. Click Printing Options and ensure the correct tray is selected.

Improve Print Quality

If the print is still blotchy:

  • Use clean, high-quality envelopes (avoid glossy or textured ones).
  • Run the Print Quality Diagnostic Page:
    • On the printer: Menu > Tools > Troubleshooting > Print Quality
  • If defects appear, run:
    • Clean Printhead
    • Align Printhead

HP Support Assistant Not Recognizing Printer

This is a known issue and can be resolved with the following steps:

Fix Connection & Recognition

  1. Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi as your PC.
  2. Restart both the printer and PC.
  3. Open HP Support Assistant and click My Devices > Add a device.
  4. If not detected:
    • Uninstall and reinstall the latest HP printer software from here: Official HP® Support
    • Or use the HP Smart App as an alternative.
