Print quality on A4 is fine and I have gone through the cartridge alignment cycle a couple of times, but my envelopes are coming our blurred and completely unusable. Any suggestions for improved quality would be gratefully received!

Hi @DGAM2
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP Printer, It sounds frustrating to deal with poor print quality on envelopes, especially when everything works fine for A4 paper. Don’t worry—I’m happy to help with some suggestions that might improve the print quality for your envelopes on your HP ENVY 6022e.
1. Check the Envelope Settings in the Printer Driver
- Steps to check:
- Open the Print dialog box (File > Print).
- Click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Under Paper/Quality, ensure Envelope is selected as the paper type.
- Ensure that the paper size is set to the correct envelope size (e.g., #10 or DL).
2. Adjust the Paper Type and Quality Settings
- When printing on envelopes, the printer may require a different paper type setting to handle the thickness and texture of the envelope properly.
- Try changing the Paper Type to Envelope or Heavyweight in the printer settings to improve the print quality.
- If your printer allows it, increase the Print Quality setting to Best to achieve sharper prints, particularly for text and graphics.
3. Align the Print Cartridges Again
- It’s great that you’ve already gone through the alignment cycle, but sometimes doing it a second or third time can help, especially if you’re experiencing blurry prints.
- Run the cartridge alignment cycle through your printer’s settings or the HP Smart app. Make sure the printer performs the alignment correctly, as this can significantly improve print accuracy.
4. Use the Correct Envelope Load Position
- Ensure that the envelopes are loaded correctly in the paper tray. Typically, envelopes should be loaded flap side up and facing towards the printer (with the flap on the left side).
- Make sure you’re not overloading the tray, and that the paper guides are snug against the edges of the envelopes to avoid misfeeds.
5. Check the Envelopes for Quality
- Avoid using moisture-prone envelopes, as they can affect ink absorption and lead to blurry prints.
6. Use the HP Smart App or Printer's Control Panel
- The HP Smart app might allow you to set more detailed print preferences, including adjusting the print quality for envelopes specifically. If you're not already using it, download it from the Microsoft Store (or check if it's already installed) and try printing from there.
- Alternatively, you can adjust settings from the printer’s Control Panel (if it has one) to make sure the settings match what you need for envelopes.
7. Try Printing from a Different Application
8. Perform a Printer Cleaning
- If the cartridges are not dispensing ink evenly or cleanly, that could be causing the blurry print. Run the printer cleaning cycle through the HP Smart app or your printer’s settings to clean the printhead.
9. Check for Firmware/Driver Updates, click here.
10. Test with Different Envelopes
- Finally, try a different brand or type of envelope. Some printers can be sensitive to the texture and weight of the paper, and it might help to use printer-friendly envelopes designed specifically for inkjet or laser printers.
