HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Printed pages were missing some of their color, just like when running out of ink, but ink is half full.  I printed the diagnostic page and have lines across the blocks for the black, cyan, and magenta.  After 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level cleaning I still have lines across the color blocks.  It got a little better with cleaning, but not great.

Ink is genuine HP and I print on average about 36 page  per month.

Maybe the only advice is to clean the cartridges repeatedly until I like the results, but I'm hesitant to use that much ink if there's anything else to try.

I posted my question here because I did not want to pay for HP out-of-warranty support.  IIRC it cost $99.

The response from EchoLake appears to be an attempt at being helpful, doesn't it?  It is not.  It is an HP representative who is trolling this site and trying to entice members into paying for out-of-warranty support.  Beware of this scam.

It is very unfortunate that HP thinks so little of its customers and that HP is apparently this desperate for the income stream generated by out-of-warranty support.

Any HONEST reply to my post will be very appreciated.

Apologize for the inconvenience caused.

As we have tried all the troubleshooting steps from our end, this seems like a hardware issue with the printer and think this issue needs some additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction with our HP Support team.

Economics of scale:  The last time I bought the two XL ink cartridges for my printer it came to over $90 with tax.  Right now Amazon has an HP all-in-one deskjet wireless printer that comes with a six month ink supply and their price is (just) under $85.  To be fair my model is closer to $200.  And how much does it cost to get out-of-warranty HP support?  Dell charges $99, I'm betting HP's charge is similar.  It's these relative costs that have made even mid-line models of electronics and better into basically disposable items.

I really favor HP products, especially printers, but...Epson, Canon, Brother.  Just sayin' is all.

You know, I'm just getting over Covid.  I'm finding that Covid has made me really grumpy.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would suggest reaching out to our support they will be able to sort this out.
