My Envy Photo 6255 printer needed new ink cartridges. I replaced both the black and tri-color cartridges. I have done this numerous times so I know they are installed correctly. Just to be sure, I have checked and double-checked and both are installed correctly. The black, magenta, and yellow all print fine. However, the cyan will not print at all. I have cleaned the cartridges and the printer heads going through all steps I have found through support. The print quality diagnostic  still shows all color blocks except cyan. This is a brand new cartridge, but I am starting to wonder if it is faulty. Any other ideas about what could be going on or what I should do?

Hi @mjhayes,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already taken some good steps, but given that the cyan is not printing despite being a new cartridge, it may indeed be a faulty cartridge. However, here are a few other things you can check or try:

Check for Cartridge Protective Tape: Ensure that the new tri-color cartridge doesn’t have any protective tape still attached to the ink nozzle area. Sometimes, this can be overlooked and prevents proper ink flow.

Inspect for Clogged Ink Nozzles: Even if the printhead has been cleaned, there could still be dried ink clogging the cyan nozzle. You can try running the printhead cleaning cycle again, but if it's not improving, try repeating it a couple of times. In some cases, using the manual cleaning method (with a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water or isopropyl alcohol) can help clear stubborn blockages.

Test with Another Cartridge: Since you suspect the cartridge might be faulty, if possible, try swapping it out with a new or known-working cyan cartridge (if you have one) to see if the issue is isolated to the cartridge itself.

Reset the Printer: Perform a reset to ensure all printer settings are refreshed. To reset the Envy 6255:

  • Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if it resolves the issue.

Check for Printer Firmware Updates: Make sure the printer’s firmware is up to date, as certain updates can improve print quality or fix issues related to ink and cartridges.

Printer Diagnostic Tools: Some HP printers have built-in diagnostic tools that can be accessed through the printer’s menu or via HP Smart on your computer. These may offer more targeted troubleshooting steps or even suggest fixes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
