Envy printer won't accept non HP photo paper

Hi,

My Envy 7873 will not print on non HP photo paper. It has worked perfectly up until now on HP paper.

When loading the small screen on printer shows correctly loaded A4 in bold, however whilst recognising

photo paper size, this is not in bold type. Photo paper used is similar in weight to HP paper previously used.

In general -- within the printer's supported type, size, and weight limitations -- HP printers accept high quality glossy photo paper manufactured by other than HP.  True, the printer might not as easily recognise lesser quality or economy paper.

I cannot comment on the "not bold" entry in the Printer Control Panel -- I do not have any "not-HP" paper to check.  Sure, that the entry is "not bold" might be significant, though it might only indicate the printer has detected the non-HP brand paper.  ?

If not done, places to (re)check...

• Check that the paper is correctly loaded according to the instructions in the User Guide -- Starting on Page 18
• Check that the printer is aware of the paper size and type Printer Control Panel and EWS - Tray and Paper
• Check that the application / software you are using on your supported device is set correctly for paper size and type.  Note the difference between paper size names - For example,  Paper Size A4 is not the same size as Paper Size Index card A4

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Click Apply to save changes

Reminder

HP Smart Mobile requires that paper size / type is adjusted before the content is opened to be printed.

Paper Size, Type, and Weight loaded in the printer tray must be supported for use in that tray.

EWS provides access and control to check / adjust Tray and Paper Settings.

Note

Depending on the printer model, the Printer Control Panel might provide access to Paper Size / Type settings immediately after the paper is (re)loaded into the appropriate printer intake tray.
