My printer shows the error 62.80.24.
Support tells me to clean the print head.
However, the print carriage is installed in such a way that the printhead cannot be removed! Do I have to throw the whole printer away?

Hi @Dominik1234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 62.80.24 on an HP printer usually indicates a problem with the printer's internal mechanism, often related to the carriage or the printhead. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve this error:
1. Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary errors.
2. Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions, such as paper jams or foreign objects, in the carriage path or around the printhead. Remove any obstructions you find.
3. Inspect the Carriage:
- Ensure that the carriage moves freely along the carriage path without any obstructions or resistance. If the carriage is stuck or unable to move, gently move it by hand to see if you can free it.
4. Clean the Carriage Path:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the carriage path and remove any dust or debris that may be interfering with the movement of the carriage.
5. Check Printhead Alignment:
- Access the printer's menu or settings and navigate to the printhead alignment or calibration option. Follow the on-screen instructions to align the printhead properly.
6. Update Printer Firmware:
- Check for firmware updates for your printer model on the HP support website. If updates are available, download and install them according to the provided instructions. Firmware updates may include fixes for known issues or errors.
7. Reset the Printer:
- Perform a reset of the printer to its factory default settings. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
