HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e All-in-One Printer

I've seen similar messages but couldn't find one for my printer. So, I pay for the Instant Ink membership. Yesterday, I replaced my Cyan cartridge with an Instant Ink cartridge and got a message saying that one or more ink cartridges are damaged or missing. I replaced that new Cyan cartridge with another that had been shipped to me and then got the message for both Cyan and Magenta. Replaced the Magenta with like Instant Ink cartridge (which I have now run out of due to this error message). Additional error messages: something like "the cartridges are not communicating with the printer . . . ." and "Please don't turn off your computer to avoid damaging the printer . . . ." Finally, after reinserting both, no error messages. Everything went fine. This morning, when I checked paper and slid drawer back in, up popped the damaged or missing cartridges for C and M again. Does anyone know what's going on? I've had the printer since May 2021. No recent software changes/updates. The connection to computer Macbook Air is wireless. Printer has performed well, without error messages since then, up to now. Thanks in advance for your help.

Solved it by wiping cartridges with a lint-free cloth.

I replaced ALL of my cartridges... TWICE.  Still didn't resolve the issue.

Turned out that a non-standard cartridge had leaked on the electrical contacts.  Used a Q-tip to clean them, and now the printer is functioning correctly.
