I have today opened and set up my brand new HP OfficeJet pro 8135e all in one printer. Followed all set up instructions to the tee, and I am now getting an error message about one of the cartridges. "indicated cartridges are not communicating with printer". I have again followed all the troubleshooting advice, tried re seating it, powering off, cleaning (brand new) copper, but still I have the problem. I am obviously thinking this could be a warranty issue, but before going down that route has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve?

Hi @LJHatACL ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with this issue, especially with a brand-new printer. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you might try before contacting warranty support:
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure the cartridges are the correct model for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e. Sometimes, incorrect or incompatible cartridges can cause communication errors.
- Inspect the Cartridges: Make sure there are no protective strips or plastic seals still attached to the cartridges. These need to be removed before installation.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts Again: Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridge and in the printer.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve communication issues. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Reset the Printer: Perform a full reset on your printer. Turn it off, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try using a different cartridge (even if it’s a known working one from another printer) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the cartridge or the printer.
- Check for Printer Software Updates: Ensure your printer's software is up to date by checking for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

I hope this helps.
