Hi @Deagan79,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP printer is having trouble detecting the new toner cartridges. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure the toner cartridge is properly installed. Remove and reinstall the cartridge, making sure it clicks into place.
- Remove Protective Tape: If there is any protective tape or plastic cover on the toner cartridge that has not been removed, it may prevent the printer from detecting the cartridge. Double-check and remove any packaging.
- Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 1 minute. Plug it back in and turn the printer on. This can sometimes reset the internal sensors and fix the error.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Use a soft cloth or a can of compressed air to gently clean the metal contacts on both the toner cartridge and inside the printer. Dust or debris on the contacts can prevent the printer from recognizing the cartridge.
- Check the Toner Cartridges for Compatibility: Make sure the toner cartridges are compatible with your specific printer model. Some models require specific toner cartridges, and using the wrong ones can lead to errors.
- Printer Firmware Update: Occasionally, a firmware update can resolve issues related to toner detection. Check the HP support website for your printer model and see if there are any available updates.
- Try a Different Toner: While the new toner cartridges might seem fine, it's possible that they are defective. If you have access to another set of cartridges, try them to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
