HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

I continue to get an error saying " one or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace with new cartridges" I have replace all once and the Cyan twice.  I have spent almost $200 on new cartridges and it is not fixed yet.  I now have a printer with all new cartridges and it can not print.

Hi @Scottfreeboat,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding cartridge errors on the HP Officejet Pro 8620!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Turn Off and On the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 60 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes clear error messages.

Check Ink Cartridge Placement:

  • Ensure all ink cartridges are properly installed. Open the ink cartridge access door, remove the cartridges, and then reinstall them, making sure they fit snugly into their respective slots.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Confirm that you are using genuine HP cartridges. HP cannot guarantee compatibility with non-HP or refilled cartridges.

Inspect Ink Cartridges:

  • Remove the cartridges and check them for any physical damage or missing parts. Make sure that the protective tape is removed from new cartridges before installation.

Examine Printer Contacts:

  • Inspect and clean the electrical contacts inside the printer where the cartridge makes contact. Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab moistened with distilled water to clean it gently.

Perform the Printhead Cleaning:

  • Use the printer’s control panel to perform a printhead cleaning process. This can help resolve issues related to ink flow and prevent clogs.

Reset the Printer:

  • Try resetting the printer by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes and then plugging it back in.

I hope this helps.
